excess baggage, the original script by screenwriter max adams

There are questions I get asked again and again.

One is, "What is it like to get rewritten?"

Um, sort of like when I watched my grandmother die of cancer. Stop asking that. Jeez.

Another is, "What in the movie is yours and what is stuff by the other guy?"

That is too hard to answer. I wrote three drafts of Excess Baggage for the studio after they optioned the original script. And after that seven other writers -- and the actress if what she said in interviews is right -- rewrote my drafts. And their drafts. And each others' drafts. And with that many people rewriting this and rewriting that, you can't say "that is mine that is theirs." It is all mashed together.

But people keep asking.

So I have figured a way to dodge the question.

You decide.

This is the original script "Excess Baggage." The draft that won the Austin Film Festival competition and that Columbia Pictures optioned.

Watch the movie. Read the script. Figure it out. (wink)
