"Exorcising the Dog" won Salt Lake City's Utah Shorts theatre competition and was produced with nine other shorts by Theatre Works West as part of their Utah Shorts program. It was produced again by Theatre Works West for Salt Lake City's Festival of the Arts. "Exorcising the Dog" was my first play, so I got real lucky. I think though, it would not have turned out so well if I had not already pounded out six or seven full length screenplays. I am probably a better playwright than screenwriter. Dialogue has always been my strong point. But, well, movies are my first love so it is movies I write. "Exorcising the Dog," though, was the first time I saw any of my work performed for an audience. Which was amazing. It would also be the last time I saw any of my work produced the way it was written.
