Oddly, for the first time, re-reading these posts, it occurs to me what the origin of the expression "cod sucker" actually might be.

Wow. That is probably not just some colorful expression. That a VERY colorful expression.

Yipes. I think I first head that and have been using that since I was a kid.

This is what I get for watching film fare set in Napoleon Bonaparte's day. I might never have known.
