So I met up with friends who were congregating in L.A. at an unprecendented time with sundry other friends added to the equation and there was someone there who had not met me but had seen the board and the first words out of his mouth were, Wow you look nothing like your avatar.

I am sincerely hoping this means I look better than my avatar though you never know when people are just blurting things out unless they pull out a flame thrower and then you run.

What I am wondering after this exchange is, is it time for an avatar change?

Also, why is it always my avatar under critique? Jeez. I like my avatar. It is a hat and shoes. To me that really works. But other people think the hat is a basketball. Maybe we should do inkblot avatar: what does this look like to you? a] a hat; b] a basketball; c] a transcontinental geography tournement.

Cripes, if I change avatars, that means more photos.

Yes, at first I was trying to figure out the deep hidden subtext of strappy sandals and a hat, but once somebody said, "It's a hat, stupid," and I realized, "Hey, it IS a hat, and a cute one, too!" I've seen it as a cute sexy foot in strappy sandals with a cute hat ever since.

I say ah, no, pink hate looks rather like an overdone, plastic-wrapped ham. You know, the kind that weighs about 8 pounds, and is earnestly handed to you by the boss for xmas after you've previously advised it's not on the self-appointed menu. The lucky hitchhiker enjoyed the ham.

But back to the comparison at hand.

I don't believe anyone would claim TAG looks like pink ham? Certainly not. As for the matter of the shoe, I understand this is a more delicate affliction. What with Manolo Shoe Blogs and Washington Post stories about underground shoe dealers (and the women who buy from them) perpetrating the screen, one never knows. Do you wear the shoe, or is the shoe you? I shoe, therefore I am? Perhaps only the Shadow knows.

I think you guys got it all wrong... wrong avatar that is. I think he was refering to the picture that comes up first, when you first sign on to the site. Nevertheless, it is a very nice ankle in that spiked "sandal."

Who me? Certainly not. The Private Message zone is inviolable. While TAG sees all, hears all, knows all, I'm sure she wouldn't stoop to snoop.

Why, that would be lower than revealing the completely fictitious fact that TAG can drink more than her weight in beer and still remain on her feet 95% of the time. Pure balderdash, of course. You're more likely to see 8-pound plastic-wrapped pink hates by the side of the road at xmastime.

I must note, in addition, that per my earlier speculations, the strappy sandal contains a foot, and a hat is just a ball of yarn transformed. So much for knit-picking.

Phew! It sure is good to know that my secrets are safe with you, Eight. I mean, I would hate it if everybody knew that I thought Pooks’ sumo guy was kind of cute. (...Oops. I didn’t tell you that part, did I?)

I don’t think TAG would snoop either. Just doesn’t seem to be the type. However, I can’t help but wonder if your so-called fictitious fact might have a bit of truth to it. After all, if memory serves me correctly, I did see an 8-pound plastic-wrapped pink hate by the side of the road once before. It was on Easter though.
