So I am in this new place doing spiffy renovations. One of the renovations is this two story wall with five windows in it. It has a long wood mantle [mantle or mantel?, hey, if I am spelling mantle wrong sue me the dictionary is still in storage] and huge wood beams running mantle to ceiling. One of the windows is arched. It has never been insulated and has lots of wood joists obvious. Which in some circles looks nice but to me is off. Still, I am thinking, Someone went to a lot of trouble to do those wall to ceiling beams, I should save them. So I do. It is a lot of work saving those dumb beams. Extra edging. Extra sanding. Exasperating plaster work. But that is done. And now I am staring at this wall thinking -- The beams suck. They just do. They draw attention away from the mantle and make the wall too up and down and -- Jesus God, if I do any more work on that frigging wall! What am I going to do here? Blend them in? To insulating and dry walling and plastering and sanding I have already done? Oh yez. That will work. I do not want to do any more work on this wall. Yesterday, work on this wall was supposed to be done. Yesterday, work on this wall WAS done. Now. I hate it. Uh oh.
